HANA + SAM WEDDING | BOSNIAN WEDDING AT THE GARDEN CLUB OF JACKSONVILLE | JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
A really cool thing about weddings is that they are different based on cultures. In this blog, you’ll learn all about a Bosnian wedding. The biggest difference for us, is that we did not shoot an actual religious ceremony for this couple. They went to a mosque a few days prior and had a very intimate wedding ceremony.
As soon as we arrived to the Bride’s home (at 11:00 am) music was already playing and guests were dancing! Yup, the wedding day began at the bride’s home. As she was getting ready, her family + friends were celebrating the joyous occasion, inside and outside her home. Her sisters were giving each guest a gift from the brides family. EVERY guest got multiple gifts throughout the day, I’ve never seen that before!
And then we heard cars honking, a lot of honking! It was the groom being escorted by all his friends and family!! Every car was decorated and traveled from the groom’s house to the brides.Guests were hugging and dancing all around him as he got out of the car.
The most important part of this wedding day was the bride being escorted out of her home by her father, she was then handed over to the best man who walked her over to see her groom. This moment was very joyous and special. There were guests cheering and there were family members crying. The bride & groom’s limo was followed by all the guests as they honked their horns all the way to the reception space.
Once we arrived to the Garden Club of Jacksonville, my jaw dropped. The decor was unreal. It was like I was in a real life Pinterest board! The floral, the tablescaping, THE CAKE!!! All of it was elegant and classy.
And it wouldn’t be a perfect wedding for Hana and Sam without pyro sparklers and smoke during their first dance. It was magical.
Unlike most wedding that hire a DJ or a band, Bosnians typically hire a professional singer to sing and emcee the night! The singer Hana and Sam had at their wedding was very well known in the Bosnian community, he’s a celebrity! And as you can imagine, live singer, means dancing all night long! They basically danced from 11 am to 11 pm!!! The energy never died down. They were there to have the night of their lives! I love watching Hana and Sam as they mingled with their guest, smiles never left their faces.
We had such an amazing time learning all about the Bosnian culture and meeting your friends and family. They truly made us feel like family. Hana and Sam, thank you again for trusting us, for taking the time to educate us about the Bosnian culture and traditions. We loved every minute of it. It was a true celebration of two families becoming one!!!
