KIRK + DANIELLE| ST. AUGUSTINE ENGAGEMENT SESSION
Heeeeey. I've noticed that recently I find myself thinking, " wow, my mom was right about EVERYTHING!" Am I right?! I catch myself saying things I swore I would NEVER say. I remember thinking as a 10 year old girl, "I'm gonna be a cool mom, I would never say that to my kids! And here I am, saying stuff like: "You just WAIT until your dad gets home!" " BECAUSE I SAID SO!"(I say this daily) and my all time favorite, " DONT MAKE ME PULL THIS CAR OVER!"
I know what you're thinking, Kristina, I thought this was an engagement session blog, why are we talking about moms?! Well, I'm glad you asked, this love story all began because, mother knew best. That's right, Kirk's mom introduced him to her beautiful and kind co-worker, Danielle.
Having an almost 6 year old son, in my mind, no girl is perfect for my baby boy. I do pray for God to change my mind about that when it's time for Kai to get married but for now, NOPE. So, for Kirk's mom to be fully convinced that Danielle is Kirk's future wife, I know for a fact that she had her heart aligned with God's plan.
Their first date was only at the BEST Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville, FLYING IGUANA! They happen to share a love for Mexican food and Danielle said she needed to introduce Kirk to the best guac in the world, she obviously hasn't tried my guac yet, haha jk. Flying Iguana does have DELICIOUS guacamole. They then headed down to Adventure Landing to play some mini golf. And finished the perfect date at Rita's. I feel like that is the PERFECT date night in Jacksonville. Good food, fun competition, tasty desert all in great company and plenty of smiles and laughter.
Within a month, they both just knew they were perfect for one another and Kirk began to plan his proposal. Danielle actually had this vivid dream of a proposal the week before Kirk actually proposed and get this, he literally made her dreams come true! (insert: awwwwww).
A lakeside picnic at " their spot" in St. Augustine was what Danielle was expecting, another lovely date. But before she knew, Kirk was down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hands, cupcakes on one side that spelled out " MRY ME?" and Danielle's favorite flowers, sunflowers on the other side. (By the way, Danielle LOVES cupcakes). The story isn't over. Once Danielle said YES! Kirk planned for the two of them to enjoy a romantic carriage ride around Historic St. Augustine. The night was topped off by Danielle being surprised once more. Kirk arranged for both of their families to enjoy dinner together to celebrate their engagement.
When it was time to decide where to do their engagement session, Danielle knew she wanted to re-enact the proposal day. I am a big fan of all things St. Augustine and ALWAYS happy to re-create memories! That's the beauty of photographs, looking at a picture and reminiscing about that exact moment in their live. Kirk even re-enacted the actual proposal! Even though it wasn't the actual proposal, I had all the feels! Gosh, I love my job!
Kirk and Danielle, we can't wait to witness you two commit to one another in front of your closest friends and family, what an honor it is! I love that St. Augustine is so intertwined in your love story. From dates to the proposal and now your wedding! Speaking of your wedding, it's in SIX days!!!! (insert happy dance). HURRRRRRRY up Saturday!!! =)
