MONSTER JAM | EVERBANK FIELD | JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
Two weeks ago, I bought Kai a calendar(they were .50 at Target) in hopes he would have an understanding of days and would be able to countdown to certain events. I show him what day is a birthday or event and he draws a corresponding picture that he would remember what that even is (since he can't read yet). And every morning, he marks out the previous day. For instance, on Valentines Day he drew a heart and on February 18, well actually on the 16th-he messed up & 17th-apparently I took up the 18th "with your letters", he drew a monster truck .
Yesterday was an adventure, to say the least. It all started at 7:00 am with Kai walking into our bedroom asking if it's time to go to Monster Jam. We then had to work on tracking our hours. Every hour he would ask " what time is it now, how much longer" at which point we would spend about 20 mins asking him to tell time (which he can) and doing the math of how much time was left.
3:00 finally arrived! We had pit passes (you get to see all the trucks, get autographs and pictures with the drivers), so we planned on leaving our house around 3:00 to spend some time at the pit party and then making our way into the arena.
We parked our car (probably 1/4 of a mile away) and started walking towards the field. Within 10 minutes, Kai's energy dwindles and he starts to complain about his feet hurting from all this walking.. insert a "seriously" face here. But, once he saw those trucks, his energy levels spiked!
|Keep in mind, all of these pictures & videos were taken on iPhones|
Shoutout to the awesome Jaguar D-line!! We ran into our friend Andrew, who is the d-line director, right before they put on an awesome show!!!
Once we saw all the trucks, Kai switched over to wanting to get "free stuff" haha. There were vendors there passing out all kind of stuff and he made every effort to get to each tent! He got chapstick (which he handed directly to me), a tire gauge (which he played with the remainder of the day and he had no idea what it was), a dog tag from metro pcs (which he insisted on wearing), a Grave Digger poster (that he colored right then and there, but he won't color at home or school!) and some random stickers from radio stations (which he wouldn't let me throw away).
7:00 rolled around and it was FINALLY time to take our seats!!
My sister, Alexis, got 4 suite tickets from work. She was kind enough to give us 3 of her tickets. Let me tell you... the suite life is AH-MAZE-ING!!!!! No wonder Gisele Bündchen has no problem going to football games... free food& drinks, nice private bathroom, fans, no sun in your face, comfortable chairs, room to stretch & move around and the best view rain or shine!
Kai was rooting for Grave Digger & El Toro Loco and boy was he doing it LOUDLY! Before the race began, he would yell their name, during the race he was completely laser focused & quiet, and after the race he would yell and would ask everyone around him "DID YOU SEE THAT?!?!?" The competition got a little too suspenseful for him and he actually cried when Grave Digger lost the final round to Monster Energy.
Great memories were made last night!!! It was a great show, a good time with amazing people!!! Until next year, Monster Jam.
